Lando Norris tops final practice of Canada GP ahead of Leclerc
14th June 2025McLaren’s Lando Norris pipped Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Mercedes’ George Russell to go fastest in Free Practice 3 at the Canadian Grand Prix.

Norris topped the final hour of practice at the iconic Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve for the Canadian GP. However, the session was not without issues ahead of qualifying.
McLaren’s championship leader, Oscar Piastri, brought out the red flag as they approached the halfway point of the session, having banged the Wall of Champions.
The collision shattered the wheel hub and caused a puncture in the Australian’s right-rear tyre. The session was red-flagged to clear away the debris.
It was revealed that Kick Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg also suffered a spin at the same section, prior to Piastri’s crash. The German was lucky to escape with minimal damage as the spin grazed his front and rear wings.
How the final hour finished…
Norris topped the final hour of practice with the fastest time on the clock, a 1 minute, 11.799-second lap. Leclerc finished just behind 0.078s off McLaren’s time, as Russell completed the top three, 0.151s off.
Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso led the remaining top five drivers, in sixth, ahead of Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli and Piastri, in seventh and eighth. The two Williams of Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon completed the top 10.
Racing Bull’s Isack Hadjar topped the bottom 10, in 11th, with his teammate, Liam Lawson, close behind in 13th. Alpine’s Pierre Gasly was sandwiched in between the two drivers in 12th.
Aston’s Lance Stroll finished 14th in the final hour of practice in his home event ahead of both Haas drivers, Oliver Bearman and Esteban Ocon, who occupied 15th and 16th.
Kick Sauber’s Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto slotted into 18th and 19th, respectively. This left Alpine’s Franco Colapinto and Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda to fill in the void, in 17th and 20th.
However, Bortoleto and Tsunoda are under investigation for red flag infringements, which could see the two drivers receiving grid penalties for the Grand Prix on Sunday.
