The Canary Island of Gran Canaria will be home to this inaugural WRC event, Rally Islas Canarias which has already built up an impressive reputation following success in the European Rally Championship.

Toyota’s Elfyn Evans will be the first out on the road, as the championship leader, on the asphalt stages. The Welshman leads the championship with 88 points following back-to-back victories in Sweden and Kenya.

Following a trio of victories for Toyota since the season start, at the hands of Sebastien Ogier and Evans, it means the defending manufacturer champions lead the teams’ standings with 148 points to their name, 26 points ahead of their closest rivals Hyundai.

So, with the event set to make its debut in the WRC, what is the weather forecast – according to the Met Office – for this weekend?

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
