Lando Norris leads McLaren in final practice at F1 Saudi Arabian GP
19th April 2025McLaren’s Lando Norris has completed the final practice session at the top of the timing boards, ahead of his teammate Oscar Piastri, at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

It was the last sun-lit session of the weekend, and that of the triple header, as Formula 1 prepares for qualifying of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. It was the last session for the teams, and drivers got to hone in their set-ups.
In the early stages, drivers dropped out onto the circuit, with Kick Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto one of the first to head out onto the circuit. The Brazilian needed the track time, having missed out on the second hour yesterday thanks to a fuel leak.
However, by the end of the final hour, it was the two McLarens who were the class of the field, six-tenths ahead of their closest competitor, Mercedes’ George Russell.

The McLaren duo of Norris and Piastri topped the timing boards ahead of qualifying with the former pipping his teammate by a narrow 0.024s. Russell finished the hour in third, six-tenths off the pace as Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc rounded out the top five.
The Williams duo of Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz finished the session in sixth and seventh ahead of Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda, in eighth and ninth. Kimi Antonelli, Mercedes, completed the top 10.
Racing Bull’s occupied 11th and 13th with Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson, respectively, as Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton completed third practice down in 12th. Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and Alpine’s Jack Doohan rounded out the top 15, in 14th and 15th, respectively.
Kick Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg, 17th, found himself sandwiched in between the two Haas cars of Oliver Bearman and Esteban Ocon, in 16th and 17th, as Bortoleto finished 19th. This left Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll to complete the session down in 20th.
