On media day, in Saudi Arabia, the defending four-time world champion has fought back speculation on a potential exit from the once-dominant Red Bull Racing team.
The speculation followed an interview with Red Bull’s Helmut Marko and Sky Germany, where it was reported that the Austrian suggested there were concerns over the Dutchman’s future at the team.
On Thursday, ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend, Croft poised this question to Verstappen, asking why he said it. The Dutchman responded:
“I don’t know, to be honest. I just keep working, keep trying to improve the car. Naturally, Bahrain wasn’t a great weekend for us. I think we were all pretty disappointed with that.
“We just keep on trying to improve the car, come up with new ideas to try on the car. The competition is tough. That’s how I go about my weeks – just trying to improve the situation.”

When asked if Verstappen has any thought of leaving Red Bull, the Dutchman bit back at the commentator. He said:
“No. I think just focus on commentating, I’ll focus on driving. Then you don’t need to think about any other scenarios.”
The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend will officially start on Friday. Free Practice 1 will get underway at 4:30pm local (2:30pm BST), with the race set to start at 8pm local (6pm BST) on Sunday.
