Reports have claimed that Netflix is looking at expanding its relationship with the sport and will be looking to bid on live broadcast rights with F1 in the USA, as the brand continues to look into live sports content.
ESPN is the current broadcaster in the USA with at least 16 races being shown in their channel or ABC. However, Netflix has emerged as a potential home for F1 live races in 2026 as the opportunity to bid for broadcasting rights is set to start soon.
Even if Netflix get the rights, the rights in the US will not have an impact on UK audiences as Sky has an agreement in place until 2029.
Netflix launched their famous, and iconic, Drive to Survive (DTS) series in 2019 which covered the 2018 F1 season, becoming a hit with the brand. It has covered every season since then to date, giving fans the views from behind-the-scenes.

The documentary series saw a mutual benefit by working together as the show increased in popularity. Audiences grew for both Netflix and F1 during lockdowns in 2020, in the wake of COVID-19.
Netflix’s next season of the DTS series is set to be airing soon ahead of the 2025 F1 championship.
It’s also reported the streaming service will also bring out a spin-off docuseries which will follow the female athletes of the Female-only series of F1 Academy.

Hi, I’m Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion.
I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I’ve loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
