Ferrari confirmed on Tuesday they will power the newcomers, Cadillac, if they’re approved to join the grid in 2026, following the United States brand’s agreement in principle with the sport.

The US brand, Cadillac, part of General Motors who were included in Andretti’s initial failed bid to join the sport, in addition to TWG Global has agreed to take customer engines and gearboxes from Ferrari.

In the announcement, Ferrari’s Team Principal, Frederic Vasseur expressed he was ‘delighted’ to supply the newcomers. Vasseur confirmed – as long as Cadillac join the grid – the team will continue to have two customer teams in the championship (Haas and Cadillac) when Sauber moves on to be Ferrari.

“It’s great to see the commitment of another American team, backed by one of the most highly respected marques in the motor industry, at a time when Formula 1 is increasing in popularity in the United States,” commented Vassuer.

“We are delighted therefore that we will be supplying the team with our power unit and gearbox as the basis of this technical collaboration. It means we will continue to have two “customer teams” in the championship with all the benefits this brings in terms of technical development within Ferrari.”

As long as Cadillac’s entry is confirmed to go ahead, this would only be a short partnership between the two brands as the US team would be looking to build and produce their own engines in 2028, two years after they join which still requires approval.
