Piastri joked about swearing in front of the FIA when he finished third at the Singapore Grand Prix, behind the victor and teammate Norris and their title adversary Verstappen.
In the cool-down room, ahead of the podium celebrations, the trio of drivers watched back highlights of the action which included a touch-and-go moment for Norris.
The championship challenger locked up into turn 14 through the race and glanced at the exit barrier. Norris believed he had suffered front-wing damage but there was no visible damage and continued on to win.
Speaking to his teammate, Piastri joked:
‘So without using swear words, how did you feel when you did that moment?’
This follows Verstappen’s punishment of the FIA’s version of community service for swearing in the FIA press conference on Thursday. The triple world champion was talking about his Azerbaijan qualifying where he described his car was ‘f***ked.’
The FIA deemed it was appropriate to punish the driver for his use of language which could’ve been considered ‘coarse, rude’ or might ‘cause offence.’ As such the regulator has punished the triple world champion with obligations to ‘accomplish some work of public interest.’
Following this, Verstappen has seen support from his fellow competitors with Norris claiming he doesn’t ‘agree with any of it’ and, former title rival, Lewis Hamilton calling it a ‘joke’.
