Ahead of the British GP, the reigning world champion ventured out onto the Silverstone Circuit when the pit exit was opened as per the standard process.

During that time, the triple world champion left and re-entered the pit lane on his reconnaissance laps.

On three occasions, Verstappen found himself marginally over the 80km/h speed limit which saw the team fined on each occasion.

On the first two incidents, the Dutchman was 0.4km/h over the posted 80km/h limit of which the team were fined €100 for each speeding offence.

In the final incident Verstappen was narrowly faster when he was in the pit lane as he when 0.5km/h over the limit. Again, Red Bull were fined €100 bringing the overall total to €300.

Despite the repeated – marginal – speeding offence, Verstappen still claimed a podium finish at the British Grand Prix as he finished second in the race, in challenging conditions.

He finished behind Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton who found himself back on the top spot in a ‘fairytale’ win and ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris, who finished third.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
