On Thursday, BWT Alpine F1 announced they will be keeping Gasly’s skills as they head into 2025 and the new regulations in 2026.
The team confirmed the decision was an extension to his current contract and will keep the French driver with the French team from the ‘2025 season and beyond.’
In a statement, the team said:
“BWT Alpine F1 Team is delighted to confirm that Pierre Gasly has committed to a long-term contract with the team. The agreement, an extension to his current contract, will take Pierre into the 2025 season and beyond.
“The Frenchman is in his second season with BWT Alpine F1 Team and, with 140 race starts in Formula 1, is a driver with vast experience to take the team to the next level long-term.”
In his 32 starts with the team, he has obtained a total of 67 championship points for the team, including some third-place finishes in Belgium and the Netherlands for the Belgian and Dutch Grand Prix.
On the announcement, Gasly said:
“I feel very much at home at this great team. I enjoy being a real part of both the Formula 1 project and the wider Alpine Cars vision.
“I’ve been officially here for over 18 months and it has always been the plan to build a long-term project with the Team. While on-track it’s been a challenging season so far, I remain faithful to the project and I am not going anywhere.
“I am happy with the changes made, the hard work, and the direction the team is taking.”
Following the announcement that his teammate, Esteban Ocon will depart the team at the end of the year, there is no news on who Gasly’s teammate will be. However, Alpine has stated this will be revealed ‘in due course.’
