Who fared better on the first day of 2024 F1 testing

The first day of testing has been completed and a total of 1,236 laps ran, but who had the best day on the opening day of this season’s test?

Best: Red Bull

Red Bull was the clear winner to determine who had the best day in the opening test, more notably Max Verstappen had the best day.

The three-time world champion had the RB20 all to himself throughout the first test of the three-day programme. It was quite a mundane yet hard-working day for the Dutch world champion as he progressed through the eight-hour test with little to no issues.

Of the field of drivers, and due to running both morning and afternoon sessions, Verstappen tallied the most amount of laps across the board as he circled the Bahrain International Circuit a whopping 143 times.

His closest competitor to match him on mileage was Mercedes’ George Russell who racked up a total of 122 laps.

Worst: Williams

Williams Racing seemed to have the worst day of the remaining nine teams on the opening test day. The Wantage-based team suffered problems in both the morning and afternoon sessions.

Alexander Albon was the first to face a problem in the dying embers of the morning test. The London-born Thai had to pull his FW46 off to the side of the circuit because of a reliability issue with the fuel pump.

The afternoon test did not fare any better for the team. Logan Sargeant was at the helm of their 2024 car and the young American suffered mechanical issues.

First, Sergeant spun the car at the double-left-hander at turns nine and 10. Fortunately, he managed to keep his car out of the barrier but then he suffered an issue with the driveshaft which curtailed his running.

A total of 61 laps were run for Williams, the least of everyone else.

That’s all for the article; Who fared better on the first day of 2024 F1 testing?
