F1 Teams show support to F1 Academy Susie Wolff following allegations
7th December 2023Formula 1 teams have united to stand by the F1 Academy Managing Director, Susie Wolff after she rejected allegations of a conflict of interest with her husband, Toto Wolff.
On Tuesday evening, Wolff posted on social media that she rejected the allegations that her position as the head of the F1 Academy provided a conflict of interest with her husband, and Mercedes F1 Team Principal, Toto Wolff.
Following the allegations, the remaining nine teams posted very similar statements declaring they had not complained to the FIA.
Mercedes was not one of the teams to write a similar statement as they posted their separate intriguing statement on Tuesday, stating they had not received any communication from the FIA Compliance Department.
This was closely followed by Mrs Wolff, herself, as she put out a post that she was ‘deeply insulted but sadly unsurprised’ to hear of the allegations.
The remainder of the teams posting similar statements shows the F1 teams standing by their fellow competitor and F1 Academy head in solidarity.

On Wednesday night, the teams all posted statements which confirmed they ‘had not made any complaint to the FIA’ about the situation and that they ‘are pleased and proud to support F1 Academy.’
The teams also mentioned they remain committed to ‘sponsor an entrant’ of the F1 Academy with their livery next season.
This allegation came from a report by Business F1 Magazine which reported that rival team principals had concerns that the F1 Academy Head was providing confidential information to her husband and Mercedes F1 Team Principal.
It has been reported that the FIA is looking into the ‘media speculation’ with their Compliance Department regarding a potential conflict of interest between a member of staff of Formula One Management (FOM) and a team principal.
