F1 reveal venues who will host sprint races in 2024
5th December 2023Formula 1 has announced which venues will be hosting the sprint race weekends for the 2024 season as six nations are set to host the events.
Following on from its debut in the 2021 championship season, the Sprint Races return for their fourth consecutive season with another six venues set to hold the events this season.
The Sprint calendar has been designed around circuits which encourage closer racing and overtaking which makes for better and entertaining races for the at-home and in-attendance spectators.
Brazil is set to host its fourth sprint race weekend, being the only venue to hold this type of F1 weekend since its inception. Austria follows closely behind with its third sprint race.
Austin and Qatar will host their second sprint race weekends, after successes in 2023. However, both China and Miami will host the sprints for the first time in 2024.
Here is how the Sprint Calendar lines up in 2024:
- China, April 19-21
- Miami, May 3-5
- Austria, June 28-30
- USA, October 18-20
- Brazil, November 1-3
- Qatar, November 29 – December 1
Following the announcement, F1 CEO and President, Stefano Domenicali said:
“I am delighted to announce six exciting venues for next season’s F1 Sprint events, including two new hosts China and Miami, both of which will be fantastic additions and provide great racing for all our fans at the race and watching at home.
“Since its creation in 2021, the Sprint has been consistent in delivering increased audiences on TV, more on track entertainment for the fans at events and increased fan engagement on social and digital platforms, and we are looking forward to the exciting events next year.”
In November, following discussions at the F1 Commission meeting, it was agreed that the Sporting Advisory Committee will discuss potential changes to the Sprint format.
A proposal will be presented to the F1 Commission for consideration at their first meeting in 2024.
