The American rookie, Logan Sargeant will continue with Williams Racing for the upcoming Formula 1 season, in 2024, after extending his contract.

On Friday, December 1, the Grove team announced they have retained Sargeant’s skills for another season to line up the rookie alongside the seasoned driver, Alexander Albon.

In his first season in F1, the Miami-born driver became the first American driver in the sport to secure championship points in 30 years. This came after his 10th-place finish in Austin at the United States Grand Prix, in October.

Despite being the driver at the bottom of the pecking order, in the drivers championship (of the drivers who completed a full season), Williams believed Sargeant demonstrated the fundamental speed required to perform at the highest level. In the announcement, Sargeant said:

“I am thrilled to be continuing with Williams Racing for the 2024 season.

“It has been an incredible journey with the team so far, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue developing as a driver within such a talented and dedicated group. We have exciting plans for the future, and I can’t wait to contribute to the team’s success in the coming year.”

With one point scored by Sargeant and another 27 points secured by his teammate, Albon, Williams managed to secure seventh place at the end of the season beating the likes of Alpha Tauri by three points.

As such the team believes the Albon/Sargeant duo will lead to a successful follow-up to their 2023 performances. Williams Racing Team Principal, James Vowels said:

“I am pleased to continue our journey with Logan into the 2024 season.

“Logan has demonstrated immense skill whilst under the pressure of the world stage, making him a perfect fit for our team. We have great confidence in his abilities and believe that together we can achieve even greater success in the upcoming season.”

The extended partnership with Sargeant also showcases their commitment to nurture and develop young talent in F1, as part of their highly regarded Driver Academy.

Following on from Williams’ announcement, it means the Formula 1 grid is now complete with all 20 drivers now confirmed for the upcoming season, next year.

That’s all for the article; Williams sign on Sargeant for F1 2024 season!
