Toyota reveal WRC 2023 Yaris Rally1
13th January 2023 0 By Kamron KentThe defending World Rally champions, Toyota Gazoo Racing, have unveiled their 2023 Rally1 car ahead of the 2023 season opener, the Rallye Monte-Carlo.
The Japanese manufacturer has finally revealed their 2023 Rally1 contender of which it the team will target their third consecutive manufacturer’s title, following Sebastien Ogier’s success in 2021 and Kalle Rovanpera’s first title in 2022.
While the car boasts a similar design to its 2022 counterpart, there are some clear differences to separate it away from its predecessor. More noticeably, the Yaris’ air intakes – on the side of the car – have been removed.
In addition, tweaks have been made on the rear wing which follow on from the team’s aerodynamics concept which was introduced at the end of the season, last year.
The car maintains its usual colour palette which is a mix of white red and black, spread across the bodywork.
Aside from the aerodynamic and technical tweaks to the Toyota, it has also been reported the car has seen some engine upgrades to help improve the delivery of power and torque.
Ahead of the season opener, the reigning world champion, Rovanpera, will be joined by his teammates; Elfyn Evans, Ogier and Takamoto Katsuta.
Katsuta will not score any manufacturer points in the season opener, behind the wheel of Toyota’s fourth car. However, the Japanese driver will be promoted into the team’s third, point-scoring vehicle, in events where Ogier is absent.
Unveiling of the Yaris came shortly after Hyundai revealed the design of their Rally1 cars, on Tuesday, ahead of the season opener next week.
