Three-time W Series champion, Jamie Chadwick, has finally been snatched up by Andretti Autosport as the female driver secures a seat in the Indy NXT series.

Chadwick, who stands as one of Europe’s biggest names in female racing will head to America for her career’s next chapter. The Briton is set to join Andretti Autosport in the Indy NXT Series by Firestone as the first woman to compete, on a full-time basis in the series, in 13 years.

Chadwick currently stands as the only champion in the ‘free-to-enter’ W Series, to date. In 2019, the Briton secured the inaugural championship before defending her titles twice in 2021 and 2022 – more recently with Jenner Racing.

Her stand-out career, in the female-only formula series, put her name on the map. Chadwick was also named a Reserve Driver for the F1 team, Williams Racing, and will remain within the Williams Racing Academy in 2023 – albeit, in an enhanced role.

However, according to Forbes, Andretti Autosport’s CEO and Chairman, Michael Andretti believes the Briton can use the experience in the Indy series to catapult her into an NTT IndyCar Series seat.

Welcoming Chadwick to the team, Andretti said:

“Andretti Autosport is proud to be supporting Jamie alongside DHL for the 2023 Indy NXT season.

“Jamie’s successful career speaks for itself, but Indy NXT gives Jamie the opportunity to continue her development in a new type of racing. DHL is a long-standing team partner; we are happy to welcome them to the Indy NXT series and excited to welcome Jamie to the team.

“We’ve turned out five Indy NXT champions over the years and look forward to continuing our role in developing new talent.”

Chadwick’s first race with Andretti will be in St. Petersburg, Florida, as part of the 2023 Indy NXT Season Opener which is set to commence on March 3 – March 5. As such the Briton will be part of the team’s three-driver line-up which consists of Hunter McElrea and Louis Foster.

In a bid to improve diversity at the company, Chadwick will become Andretti’s second full-time driver after Catie Munnings was named as Andretti’s full-time driver for their Extreme E team: Andretti United.

The three-time W Series champion will race in the DHL-sponsored #28 Dallara in the Indy series as the logistics company has been involved with the American team – in IndyCar – since 2010.

DHL currently sponsor, former F1 Haas driver, Romain Grosjean who moved to the Andretti team ahead of the 2022 IndyCar season.
