Drivers awarded speeding fines ahead of Rally Estonia
15th July 2026Three crews have been issued with speeding fines ahead of the World Rally Championship’s Rally Estonia, with each fine coming from the reconnaissance runs ahead of the event.

The start of Rally Estonia is just under two days away from starting, on Friday afternoon. As such, before the event, the competing crews were out on the stages checking out the upcoming stages, which will be used to make up the Estonian rally.
However, despite being reconnaissance, it hasn’t stopped a few of them from breaking the speed limit which has been imposed. The stages in question were SS2, SS12 and SS13, of which three individual WRC2 crews had broken the speed limits.
Printsport’s Yuki Yamamoto and his co-driver James Fulton were the first crew to break the speed limit on SS2, as they were reported to have exceeded the 50km/h speed limit by 20.3km/h, going 70.3km/h. As it was their first speeding infringement, they were given the largest fine of the three: €500.
Toksport’s Robert Virves and Jakko Villo, and GP Garage My Team’s Uğur Soylu and Mehmet Yalçin, were also given an equal fine of €225 each for breaking the speed limit by nearly 10km/h.
Virves/Villo was found to have exceeded the speed limit by 9.6km/h, going 59.6km/h in an imposed 50km/h speed limit, whilst Soylu and Yalçin were found to have broken the speed limit by 9.5km/h, going 39.5km/h, in a resticted 30km/h speed limit.
Action will officially get underway in Estonia on Friday morning with the shakedown test. However, Toyota’s Elfyn Evans will later open up the road when the event undergoes its first stage of the weekend.
