Neuville remains as the Rally leader, having taken the lead on Friday, but the Belgian ended his day wounded both physically and on the clock.
The 2024 world champion held a near 10-second advantage going into Saturday over Ogier. By the end of the day, the Belgian saw his advantage slashed to 4.1 seconds over the Toyota nine-time world champion.
This was not helped by the former world champion hitting a dirt bank on the final stage of the day. Just before the finish, the Hyundai driver ran wide at a left-hand corner and tapped the rear of the car, which pulled the car in and ripped the bumper off.
Neuville was able to drag his car back to service, but he had lost power steering on the way back.
Toyota’s Takamoto Katsuta rounded out the top three, two minutes and 17 seconds away from Neuville, with Ogier ahead in second.
But that wasn’t the only problem on Saturday. Both Sami Pajari and Adrien Fourmaux, for Toyota and Hyundai, respectively, slipped on the 10th stage of the weekend as they lost grip on the slippery gravel conditions.
Trouble continued for Fourmaux as he later suffered a puncture, dropping him from third to sixth on the 12th stage of the weekend. Toyota’s championship leader, Elfyn Evans, endured the same fate on the final stage of the day, dropping his overall position from fifth to seventh.
So, who finished where heading into Super Sunday?
