Ferrari identified improvements ahead of British Grand Prix

Ferrari has confirmed they have found areas to improve on ahead of the upcoming British Grand Prix after a disappointing result in Austria, last time out.

Following a disappointing Austrian Grand Prix, Ferrari’s team boss, Fred Vasseur has confirmed the team has found areas for improvement ahead of the upcoming British Grand Prix.

At the Austrian Red Bull Ring, both Ferrari’s managed to qualify on the front and second rows, between Mercedes pole-sitter George Russell and Kimi Antonelli, in fourth. However, both drivers failed to maintain or improve on their starting position.

By the end of the race, Lewis Hamilton found himself in fifth overall, whilst Charles Leclerc dropped to eighth.

Vasseur said the team needed to ‘learn’ and ‘refocus’ ahead of their trip to the United Kingdom, for the British GP at Silverstone. Of which, the team boss has said the team has found ‘a number of areas’ where they can improve. He said:

“Silverstone is one of the most iconic circuits on the calendar and presents a very different challenge compared to Austria. We come into this weekend having carefully analysed the race in Spielberg and identified a number of areas where we can improve.

“We know that the level of competition will once again be extremely high and that every detail will make the difference.”

However, the problem comes down to the British Grand Prix this weekend, which stands as a sprint race for the first time since the format’s introduction back in 2021.

This means that, whilst they know the improvement areas, the team will have to hit the sole practice session running to get off on the right foot.

“With the Sprint format, we will have just one free practice session before going straight into a competitive session, so as usual in a Sprint, it will be even more relevant to start on the right foot,” said Vasseur.

“This is a special race for Lewis and we know he will enjoy tremendous support from the British fans. Silverstone always provides a fantastic atmosphere and we are looking forward to getting back on track.”
