Ahead of the British GP, F1 has confirmed that LEGO cars will return to the drivers’ parade, having previously been used at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix.

Instead of full-scale F1 cars, like those in Miami, the drivers are set to drive head-turning ‘mini-cars.’ Each car has been made of 28,000 real LEGO bricks, designed in each of the team’s 2026 colours.

Last time out, in Miami, chaos ensued as then-20 drivers drove around the circuit, crashing into each other and causing damage to their respective LEGO vehicles in what was one of the most memorable moments of that season.

“Last year’s F1 Drivers’ Parade in Miami with the LEGO big build cars was one of the most memorable and talked-about moments of the season, capturing the imagination of fans around the world and showing a different side of the sport,” said Formula 1’s Chief Commercial Officer, Emily Prazer.

“This year, we’re building on that moment to create an incredible spectacle for fans attending the British Grand Prix and those watching globally.

“There is something truly special about bringing together the worlds of Formula 1 and LEGO play, combining innovation, creativity, and entertainment in a way that can inspire and excite fans of all ages.”

According to F1, in their announcement, in combination to the 28,000 LEGO bricks, each car took over 6,400 combined hours to develop and construct. Built by a team of 20 designers, engineers and LEGO specialists at the LEGO Group’s Kladno factory in the Czech Republic.

Each car can reach up to 25km/h (16mph, rounded up), weighing 280kg, with 65kg being LEGO bricks, and the rest is the car’s equipment, allowing it to be drivable. Additionally, unlike their 2025 counterparts, the minicars will use standard go-kart wheels rather than Pirelli tyres.

“The excitement from drivers and fans alike at last years’ Miami Drivers Parade, was impossible to ignore,” said Julia Goldin, Chief Product and Marketing Officer of the LEGO Group.

“Fans and drivers alike asked – so now we are delivering. We wanted to go even bigger than last year and ensure we continue to surprise and delight our fans. We can’t wait to see what the drivers do when they get these minicars on track.”
