Formula 1 is set to return from its five-week spring break following a grand prix-less April, when both the Saudi Arabian and Bahrain races were cancelled.
Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli will continue to head the F1 drivers’ standings, having jumped his teammate, George Russell, to the top spot after securing back-to-back wins in both China and Japan. Whilst the team itself, Mercedes, dominates the constructors’ standings after three races.
However, the target planted on the young Italian’s back – as the championship leader – won’t be the only challenge of the weekend. The weather is also set to be tricky.
According to BBC Weather, the weekend will start hot and dry, with glorious conditions expected on both Friday and Saturday. However, Sunday is set to bring thunderstorms.
So, what is the weather forecast for the upcoming grand prix?
The Weather Forecast
Friday
The opening day of the F1 weekend will be a scorcher, with temperatures creeping into the low 30s, reaching 32° by midday, thanks to the expected sunny conditions.
As such, there is no chance of rain. But, if you’re in attendance, you should bring strong suncream with UV levels expected to be very high.
Saturday
Saturday will follow suit, for both the sprint and qualifying for the grand prix, with sunny conditions expected for the most part – except for 2pm, where light cloud is forecast.
Temperatures are set to go as high as 33°, the highest of the entire weekend. Again, there will be no chance of rain.
Sunday
Sunday is expected to be a wet day with thundery showers expected for the majority of the day, starting from 10am until 6pm, with temperatures rising to highs of 30°.
The chance of rain will steadily increase from 18% at 6am to highs of 61% at mid-day. With bad weather expected, it means the UV will be reduced to medium levels.
