The African rally is notorious among the teams and crews as one of the toughest events of the calendar. It will also mark the first gravel event of the season, after asphalt and snowy conditions in both Monte Carlo and Sweden, respectively.

Safari Rally Kenya will get underway on March 12 – 15, four weeks after the conclusion of Rally Sweden, won by Toyota’s Elfyn Evans, who led a all-Toyota podium.

A total of 46 crews will enter the event, with 10 of those competing in the top echelon of the WRC, in the Rally1 category. So who will be competing at the next event?

Toyota

The Japanese squad will enter five cars in Kenya, with Evans leading the way ahead of Oliver Solberg. Nine-time world champion Sebastien Ogier, will return to the team after missing out on Sweden last time out.

Takamoto Katsuta and Sami Pajari will complete the entry list for the Toyota squad.

Hyundai

The South Korean manufacturer will have an unchanged line-up from Sweden when they head to Africa, with Adrien Fourmaux and Thierry Neuville continuing their full-time programmes for the team.

They will be accompanied by Esapekka Lappi, who will undergo his second event with the team after their return, in Sweden, last week.

M-Sport Ford

M-Sport is not set to bring another part-time driver this time out, after Martins Sesks and Gregoire Munster had some time behind the wheel in the last two rounds.

It means the Cumbrian squad will only have two entries in Kenya, with the Irish crews of Joshua McErlean and Jon Armstrong set to compete for the M-Sport team.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
