Evans on the cusp of first 2026 victory at Rally Sweden
15th February 2026Toyota’s Elfyn Evans is on the cusp of his first victory of the season at the snow-laden Rally Sweden, ahead of teammate Takamoto Katsuta.

On the Wolf Power Stage stands between the Welshman and the rally victory, who had led the rally for the majority of the event. Ahead of the final stage, Evans leads Katsuta by 14 seconds.
The winner of last year’s event, Evans, had fought for the lead throughout the event since Friday. He inherited the lead of the event from teammate Oliver Solberg, who made a mistake on SS3, dropping down the order.
However, after Friday afternoon, Katsuta had briefly taken the rally lead. This was until Saturday morning, when Evans returned to the top of the timing boards, and the Welshman hasn’t relinquished that lead ever since.
Heading into the final test of the weekend, the Wolf Power Stage, 10.23km sets the stage for the Rally Sweden finale. It is the second pass of the Umeå stage, which the teams and drivers ran at the beginning of the event, on Thursday.
Evans currently heads Katsuta, with teammate Sami Pajari rounding out the podium in third, on the cusp of his second career podium finish – following Rally Japan last year.
It looks like a podium finish may be out of reach for the home hero, Solberg, who finds himself 31 seconds behind Pajari in fourth place.
