FIA confirm two pit lane penalties ahead of Italian Grand Prix
7th September 2025Both Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and Racing Bull’s Isack Hadjar will start from the pit lane for the Italian Grand Prix due to changes under Parc Ferme.

The FIA has confirmed that both Gasly and Hadjar will start from the pit lane as both drivers made changes to their power units under parc ferme conditions from qualifying.
Both drivers suffered Q1 eliminations during qualifying at the iconic Autodromo Nazionale Monza, with Gasly qualifying 19th whilst Hadjar finished ahead of his fellow Frenchman in 16th.
It was reported that Hadjar would take new power unit components after his Q1 elimination, so it was suspected the Frenchman would start from the pit lane.
However, it was flagged by the FIA Technical Delegate that Alpine hadn’t covered Gasly’s car, as per the regulations, after qualifying.
Now, it has been confirmed that both drivers had taken new engine components for the Italian GP, resulting in a 40-place grid penalty for Gasly and a 60-place grid penalty for Hadjar.
Both Gasly and Hadjar took a fifth internal combustion engine, turbocharger, motor-generator unit (kinetic and heat) and a new exhaust – their seventh of the season.
Only Hadjar took an additional new energy store and control electronics, making it his third of the season so far.
All power unit components taken by both drivers were outside the conformity of the regulations, and as they accumulated more than 15 grid penalty places, they are required to start from the pit lane.
Now, it means Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll, Alpine’s Franco Colapinto and Racing Bull’s Liam Lawson will move up the grid in respect to Hadjar’s and Gasly’s penalty.
