Verstappen has claimed his 45th career pole position at the Italian Grand Prix, and his fifth of the season, which ties for the most of the season with McLaren’s championship leader Oscar Piastri (5) – one more than Norris this year.

It was a tight fight for pole as Norris took pole position, on the final run of qualifying, before the Dutch world champion quickly reclaimed his top spot for Sunday’s race.

Piastri could only muster third fastest to complete the top three. This left both Ferraris to round out the top five, with Charles Leclerc pipping Lewis Hamilton at the team’s home event in Monza.

However, the seven-time world champion will serve a five-place grid penalty on Sunday after he failed to slow for double yellow flags before the Dutch Grand Prix got underway last weekend.

It has also been confirmed by Isack Hajar that he will be starting the race at the back of the pack, despite qualifying 16th. After it was reported that Racing Bulls will change his power unit and it will prompt a pit lane start on Sunday’s race.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
