On Thursday, it was reported that Max Verstappen, Red Bull, would miss media day ahead of the upcoming Miami Grand Prix to be with his partner, Kelly Piquet, who is expected to give birth in the near future.

Ahead of the Grand Prix, Hulkenberg was informed he would lose his status as the only racing father in the paddock ahead of baby Verstappen’s arrival.

He previously shared a ‘racing father’ title with Sergio Perez and Kevin Magnussen, when they raced for Red Bull and Haas, last year. Following their departure from the series, at the end of the 2024 season, it left Hulkenberg as the only father in the paddock.

When asked if the German had parenting advice to give to Hulkenberg, the Kick Sauber driver hoped the baby was a ‘good sleeper,’ whilst pointing out some joys of parenting.

“I don’t know. Yeah, it’s true – it was a fun fact that I was the only one since Checo [Sergio Perez] and K-Mag [Kevin Magnussen] left at the end of last year, I was the only dad,” said Hulkenberg. “So yeah, he’s joining that club. I hope it’s a good sleeper.

“We’ve been quite fortunate and lucky. But yeah, I think there’s lots to discover – many beautiful, nice things that come with that. So yeah, I’m sure he’ll enjoy it.”

Whilst this baby will be the first for the Verstappen-Piquet couple, Verstappen has played a role in raising the model’s daughter, who was born from her previous relationship with former Red Bull driver Daniil Kvyat.
