The FIA have confirmed that Lando Norris’ championship contender, the MCL39, was subjected to ‘extensive physical inspections’ following the outcome of the Japan Grand Prix.
Norris’s car was chosen randomly among the top 10 finishers at last weekend’s race. The inspections concerned the technical regulations, especially the ‘on-car software, configurations and logged data.’
It was reported that the software program files, uploaded from the FIA standard ECU, were checked against those submitted for homologation.
They also checked against on-car versions of CAN configurations and FIA DTV (including whitelist parameters and FIA fixed parameters).
The #4 MCL39 was also checked to ensure connection to the car was available to the FIA through standalone equipment.
Race data and configurations, provided by McLaren, were also checked against the files offloaded by the FIA. This also included the transfer of real-time and logged data to the FIA.
In the report, the FIA Technical Delegate, Jo Bauer confirmed:
“All inspected items were found to be in conformance with the 2025 Formula One Technical Regulations.”
Next up is the Bahrain Grand Prix, which officially gets underway with FP1 on Friday at 2:30pm local (12:30pm BST), with the race starting at 6pm local (4pm BST).
