The new livery, which will be on full display at this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix, has been teased before the upcoming grand prix as speculation rose around Red Bull opting to run a white livery.
On Tuesday, it was confirmed that Red Bull will indeed run a white livery to pay tribute to its partnership with Honda. It will also commemorate 60 years since that Honda win, recreating the RA272’s Japanese flag motif.
It marks the second time Red Bull will run a white coloured livery to honour Honda. Previously, they ran a white livery at the 2021 Turkey Grand Prix, driven by – now four-time world champion – Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
Ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix, Red Bull Team Principal and CEO, Christian Horner, said:
“Our relationship with Honda deserves celebration, it has been one of continued success and brought the Team one of the most triumphant and dominant periods in our history.
“Max has won four World titles with a Honda Power Unit and the Team have lifted two Constructors’ titles, in addition, Honda’s reliability enabled to complete the most successful season in the sport’s history in 2023.
“This livery is a tribute to Honda’s success in the sport and the final year of, what has been a thoroughly enjoyable partnership. I am looking forward to seeing it out on track.”
2025 also marks the final season of the Red Bull partnership with Honda as the power unit supplier, and the car brand will move over to Aston Martin ahead of the new 2026 regulations.
The new livery, a striking white and red look, was inspired by Honda’s RA272, which won its first race at the 1965 Mexico Grand Prix, driven by Richie Ginther.
The iconic ‘H’ logo will be on the nose of the car with a ‘simple Honda logo’ on the rear. Red Bull also confirmed a special logo, commemorating 60 years since Honda’s win, will be displayed across all four Red Bull cars.
The new livery on the RB21 will be driven by Verstappen and Japan’s home hero, Yuki Tsunoda, who is set to replace underperforming Liam Lawson for the remainder of the season.
On the announcement, the President of Honda Racing Corporation, Koji Watanabe said:
“It is quite moving to see the RA272 tribute livery on the latest Red Bull Racing machine, in the final year of Honda and Red Bull’s partnership. Our successful path will continue to shine in the history of F1.”
