It was a cleaner session for the 19 drivers who took part in the second Free Practice session after red flags impacted running in FP1.

Only 19 drivers took part in the session as Haas F1 couldn’t fix Oliver Bearman’s car in time following his FP1 crash, which forced the team to repair the Briton’s VF-25.

How FP1 unfolded….

Leclerc topped the timing boards with the best time of the weekend so far, a 1m 16.439s, as the two McLaren’s completed the top three as Piastri edged out Norris, in second and third.

Racing Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda led the best of the rest, in fourth, ahead of Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, who finished 0.420s behind his teammate. Isack Hadjar completed a Racing Bull’s sandwich in sixth.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen led the remaining top 10 drivers in seventh ahead of Kick Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg, Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll and Mercedes’ George Russell in eighth, ninth and 10th.

The Williams duo of Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon sat in 11th and 12th after the second hour. Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and the Alpine duo of Jack Doohan and Pierre Gasly rounded out the top 15 in 13th, 14th and 15th.

Three of the rookies rounded out the remaining four drivers, led by Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli, Red Bull’s Liam Lawson and Kick Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto, in 16th, 17th and 18th.

Haas’ only car out on the session, driven by Esteban Ocon, completed the order in 19th.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
