On Wednesday evening, it was announced that Domenicali, who has been F1’s President and CEO since 2021, would remain as the sports leader through 2029, following a successful period.

The Italian businessman and Ferrari’s former F1 personnel will enjoy a five-year extension on his current contract after an agreement with Liberty Media. In the announcement, Domenicali said:

“I am honoured to continue to lead this incredible sport, which I love and has been part of my life since my childhood and grateful to the Liberty Media Team for their trust.

“Together, with all the relevant F1 stakeholders, we will continue to serve the best interest of our fans, as they are the heartbeat of everything we do.

“The passion, the energy and the adrenaline are the fuel that powers me every day to give my absolute best to Formula 1.”

Following Domenicali’s appointment, F1 has enjoyed significant growth over the years, having taken over the reigns from Chase Carey. F1 continue to enjoy strong fan growth and engagement whilst improving commercial success.

The sport’s ecosystem has been said to be at its strongest so far for all stakeholders, and its strategy to innovate and create new ways to engage audiences and improve fan offerings will continue the sport’s success.

“We are thrilled to renew Stefano and look forward to his leadership alongside the talented management of Formula 1 for the years ahead,” commented Derek Chang, President and CEO of Liberty Media.

“Stefano has been an excellent steward of the business, building on its successful foundation and accelerating Formula 1’s rate of growth both commercially and in fan engagement.

“His energy and enthusiasm for the sport translate into highly effective strategy and results.

“On behalf of Liberty, we are thankful for his partnership and incredibly optimistic about the continued success the F1 team can drive for the sport, our fans, partners and shareholders.”

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
