F1 and FIA confirm Cadillac as 11th team in 2026
7th March 2025Formula 1 and the FIA have confirmed that Cadillac will be on the 2026 grid as the sport’s 11th team following assessments with the team.

On Friday, the week before the Formula 1 season commences in 2025 at the Australian Grand Prix, Formula 1 and the FIA confirmed that Cadillac will join the grid as the sport’s 11th team in 2026.
This comes after the new team underwent – and satisfied – sporting, technical, and commercial assessments.
Following the assessment, the sport and FIA confirmed their entry to the 2026 F1 World Championship. In a joint statement, they said:
“The FIA and Formula 1 can confirm that, following the completion of their respective sporting, technical and commercial assessments, the application by General Motors and TWG Motorsports to bring a Cadillac team to the FIA Formula One World Championship from 2026 has been approved.”

This announcement was somewhat expected after it was announced last November that Cadillac had secured an ‘agreement in principle.’
It confirmed that they had achieved ‘operational milestones’ and ‘made clear’ commitments to brand an 11th team on the grid whilst it confirmed Cadillac will also supply its own power unit later.
In the meantime, in 2026, it has already been confirmed that Ferrari will provide power units to the new entry whilst they work on their power units.
GM/Cadillac will fill the vacancy that Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber will leave when they move over to become Audi in 2026.
