The holiday season is officially over and New Year’s celebrations are in the rearview mirror, shifting focus onto the 2025 season where the maiden world champions of Hyundai, Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe will be looking to take their second consecutive world title.

A total of 14 rounds line up the 2025 WRC calendar comprising new events introducing themselves to the sport such as the Canary Islands and Saudi Arabia.

The championship will kick off in Monte-Carlo as the traditional season opener on January 23-26 with 13 further championship events being contested throughout January to November to make up the top tier of Rallying before coming to a close in Saudi Arabia on November 27-30.

But with new faces joining or switching teams, who will be racing for who this season?

Hyundai

After just missing out on the world championship, losing to Toyota in the final event of the 2024 season, Hyundai will keep their two powerhouses, Thierry Neuville – going into his first season as the defending champion – and Ott Tanak, to continue their quest for the teams’ and drivers’ world titles.

However, instead of a revolving third car with part-time drivers, Hyundai brought in M-Sport Ford’s star driver Adrien Fourmaux to fill the third car full-time to give the team consistent performance event-to-event.

Toyota

As the team looks to defend yet another title in 2025, Toyota will retain the skills set of Elfyn Evans and Takamoto Katsuta. However, Two-time world champion, Kalle Rovanpera will return alongside his co-driver Jonne Halttunen after a part-time schedule in 2024.

Sami Pajari will also join the team for his first full WRC season following impressive runs when the team called him in, and a successful WRC2 campaign in 2024. Eight-time world champion, Sebastien Ogier will return to the Japanese outfit for another part-time season as the defending champions complete the team’s five-car line-up.

M-Sport Ford

As Adrien Fourmaux enjoys new pastures at Hyundai, this leaves Gregoire Munster to remain at the team as their experienced driver. The Luxembourg-born driver endured a season of challenges and learning and will be looking to use this to drive M-Sport Ford forward.

He will be joined alongside Josh McErlean for the upcoming campaign with Eoin Treacy as McErlean’s co-driver. The Irish pairing join the Cumbrian-based team after successful seasons in both WRC2 and the ERC, supported by the Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy.
