After taking victory in Brazil, Verstappen has knocked 18 of 19 drivers out of contention for the championship leaving the fight to be decided between himself and McLaren’s Lando Norris.
The Dutchman heads the drivers championship with 393 points to his name, 62 points ahead of Norris (331pts) who remains second. Victory looks all but assured for the triple world champion whereas Norris has a challenging task to overcome that deficit in the final races.
Heading into the final triple header of the season, and the final three races, there are a maximum total of 86 points up for grabs. This is for the maximum score of 26 points in each of the last three grand prix (including the fastest lap) and taking eight points at the Qatar sprint.
Las Vegas poses the first true opportunity for Verstappen to have a mathematical chance of securing his fourth consecutive world drivers title, with two races left to go; Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

But, if Verstappen wins the race in Vegas – which he did last season – the driver’s title will be sealed.
However, it’s not a certainty as Norris can still prolong his championship ambition going into the final two races. So, how can Norris keep Verstappen from taking the championship in Sin City?

The constructors championship remains a three-horse race up until the end of the season with a total of 49 points separating championship leaders, McLaren from third-placed Red Bull Racing.
A maximum of 147 points are still up for grabs, taking into consideration the three remaining grand prix and sprint race, it means the constructors title cannot be sealed in Vegas.
With the amount of points still available, it means the teams championship title – dependent on results – could go down to the wire and be decided at the season finale in Abu Dhabi.
