Sauber are set to make three big leadership changes to their squad as part of the teams ongoing transformation, when Audi takes over for 2026, with Giampaolo Dall’Ara, Ignacio Rueda and Beat Zehnder taking up important positions.
The trio of changes see those named take up positions as the team’s Head of Race Engineering, Sporting Director and Director of Signature Programs and Operations.
Dall’Ara will take up the newly-created role of Head of Race Engineering. This role will allow Dall’Ara to oversee the departments operations both at the factory in Hinwil, and on track.
Sauber say this appointment is a move ‘to optimise alignment on all car performance-related topics’ and to ensure a ‘join operations approach’ as the company integrated the Race Engineering department into the Technical Group.
Rueda will join the team as their Sporting Director, taking over from Zehnder, who will move up into the position of Director of Signature Programs and Operations from 2025.

Rueda, who was the Sporting Director for Scuderia Ferrari since 2021, will join the team with a wealth of experience having held senior positions at Jordan Grand Prix, Renault and Lotus F1. He will be responsible for overseeing ‘all sporting activities, managing the relationship with FIA and all regulations matters trackside.’
Zehnder, who has been part of Sauber since 1980s, reportedly shifted his focus to other areas of the business and will become the Director of Signature Programs and Operations in 2025.
The new role will see Zehnder working to ensure Sauber Motorsport’s rich heritage continues to grow, upholding the company’s core values and help innovate and shape the organisation’s future.
These changes, according to Sauber, are expected to renew confidence in the team and strengthen it as it prepares for the future as a factory team with Audi.
