McLaren have announced, on Tuesday, that they are set to run the second edition of the team’s chrome livery at this weekend’s US Grand Prix, at Austin, Texas.

The returning fan-favourite livery was made in partnership with the team’s official primary partner, Google, as part of the team’s ‘Chrome Shines Again’ campaign.

This livery first appeared last year, at the British Grand Prix, and will bring back the famous chrome colour of previous McLaren F1 racing cars. The new design has a ‘modern twist to represent the team’s enduring legacy’ and alongside the two parties’ ‘pursuit of innovative design.’

Alongside the cars, both McLaren drivers will feature touches of chrome on their race suits as Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri race around the American circuit, Circuit of the Americas.

Heading into the all-American triple header of the season, featuring the United States, Mexico and Brazil, the championship leaders head into Austin with a 41-point lead over closest rivals – and defending champions – Red Bull Racing.

At the same time, Norris is continuing his pursuit for his maiden championship against Red Bull’s defending world champion Max Verstappen. The Briton still has a 52-point gap to make up on Verstappen as we head into the final six races of the season.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
