Following their success in Finland, much to the demise of home hero Kalle Rovanpera crashing out in the penultimate stage, Toyota has confirmed Ogier and Landais will compete in the next round.

Ogier will be one of three Toyota Rally1 Yaris cars in attendance at the event with the other two participants fulfilled by full-time regulars and teammates, Elfyn Evans and Takamoto Katsuta.

The eight-time world champion was reportedly set to compete in this event so the announcement does not come as a surprise.

Although the world champion claimed the championship was no longer his priority, he remains under pressure to compete in the remaining four rallies; Greece, Chile, Central Europe and Japan.

This comes down to his championship standings, he sits in second 27 points adrift of Hyundai’s Theirry Neuville who remains on top since he took the opening win in Monte-Carlo.

At the same time, Toyota will head to the Greek peninsula 20 points behind championship leaders Hyundai after the retirements of Kalle Rovanpera and Elfyn Evans, on the final day of Rally Finland.

Despite a part-time schedule for this season, the Frenchman has competed in six of the events and he won three; Croatia, Portugal and Finland.

His lower road order, a result of his schedule, has allowed the French world champion to sniff the possibility of a ninth world championship chance – to tie the record with Sebastien Loeb.

EKO Acropolis Rally Greece will kick off on Thursday, September 5 before coming to its natural conclusion on Sunday, September 8.
