Bruno Famin to leave Team Principal role at Alpine F1

Alpine has announced Bruno Famin is set to stand down from his Team Principal role at their F1 team at the end of August.

On Friday, it was announced at the Belgian Grand Prix that the team will part ways with their current Team Principal, Famin, with his replacement to be announced in ‘due course.’ 

Famin took over the top job on Alpine’s pit wall last year when the team and, previous Team Principal, Otmar Szafnauer separated at last year’s Belgian Grand Prix. 

The team have confirmed that Famin will leave his role at the ‘end of August’ but he will remain in charge of other motorsport activities of the Renault Group, at Viry-Chatillon. 

In the statement, on X, Alpine said: 

“BWT Alpine F1 Team can confirm that Bruno Famin will move away from his current role as Team Principal of the F1 division by the end of August. 

“Bruno will be in charge of all other motorsport activities of the Renault Group at Viry-Chatillon. 

“A new Team Principal will be announced in due course.”

This news follows many different ‘organisational changes’ in Alpine’s structure in recent months, after a dismal start to the season. 

Alpine opted for a ‘three-pillared’ approach with their technical structure as they removed the previous structure of a singular Technical Director, in March. 

In June, Alpine brought back Flavio Briatore into the fold as an Executive Advisor with the team. Briatore was brought in by Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo as his ‘executive advisor for the Formula One Division.’

The Italian was set with a predominant focus on scouting top talents, insights on the driver markers and ‘challenging the existing project.’
