Ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, the last race before the annual Formula 1 summer shutdown, McLaren announced on Wednesday that they will partner up with Mastercard.
This partnership, on a multi-year deal, will see the financial brand become a major sponsor of the McLaren F1 team with branding being implemented to the team’s cars and equipment later on in the season.
McLaren has followed in similar footsteps to that of RB who rebranded to Visa Cash App, another financial service, at the beginning of the year.
“Mastercard is an incredible brand with the iconic red and yellow logo instantly recognisable wherever you are in the world,” commented McLaren CEO Zak Brown.
“Mastercard shares our absolute passion for offering fans fantastic experiences and opportunities to truly feel part of our growing global racing community – and we are delighted to welcome them to the McLaren Racing family.”
According to the team, the partnership aligns with a shared ambition to set the standard and focus on innovation, bringing people and their passions closer together.
Through ‘Mastercard Priceless Experiences’ cardholders get access to properties in sport and entertainment, meaning this new partnership will be extended into the Formula 1 world with McLaren.
On the news, Mastercard’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Raja Rajamannar said:
“We are constantly exploring new ways to bring value to our customers and cardholders. Getting them closer to their passions, what they love most, is central to this, and racing has become one of the most exhilarating, universal passions globally.
“For many people, McLaren is synonymous with racing – exciting, innovative, purpose-driven. We are thrilled to partner with them and to join our brands together in a meaningful way in the eyes of fans everywhere.”

Hi, I’m Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion.
I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I’ve loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
