In the first full day of action in Poland for the Polish rally, two of the seven stages on Friday had been interrupted – then cancelled – as a result of safety concerns with spectator control.

Only four drivers completed the cancelled third stage with Thierry Neuville leading the way ahead of Elfyn Evans, Adrien Fourmaux and Takamoto Katsuta.

Later on in the day, only three drivers completed the seventh stage; Fourmaux, Evans and Neuville, before it was cancelled.

However, this is not a one-off problem for the country which returned to the WRC calendar this season for the first time since 2017.

In 2015, the event had similar faced issues which forced the FIA to give Rally Poland ‘a yellow card warning’ which risked its position on the calendar.

After seven years out of the sport, it looks as if the issue has not been resolved.

Media and rally drivers, such as the championship leader Thierry Neuville, have pleaded to the fans to respect the marshals and to make sure the spectators follow the safety guidance.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
