Ogier to miss Rally Poland due to car accident
26th June 2024Sebastien Ogier and Vincent Landais are set to miss out the World Rally Championship’s Rally Poland as the two were involved in a road traffic accident.

On Tuesday, Toyota announced that the team’s French pairing of Ogier and Landais were involved in a road traffic accident which has left them unable to participate in the event.
The accident was during the pair’s recce tours of the Goldap special stage, which will be the 10th and 14th stages of the rally weekend.
During this time, the pair were in a road car, as per normal practice for reconnaissance. The team confirmed the duo were driving within the speed limits set.
In a statement on X, Toyota said:
“TGR-WRT crew Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais were taken to hospital for checks following a road traffic collision during reconnaissance for Rally Poland on Tuesday morning.
“Two occupants of the other vehicle involved, members of the public, were also taken to hospital for medical checks.
“The incident took place while Ogier and Landais were preparing for the Goldap special stage, which forms SS10 and SS14 of the rally this Saturday.
“Ogier and Landais were driving a road car as is the standard practice for rally reconnaissance all recce cars have GPS tracking, which shows the speeds were within the limits set.”
Despite the accident, the French pair plus the two occupants of the other vehicle showed ‘no serious injuries’ following scans at the local hospital.
However, Landais was reportedly discharged from the hospital but Ogier was kept overnight for medical observations. Both drivers will not be able to participate in the event his weekend.
“The safety and wellbeing of all involved remains the upmost priority of the team” Toyota continued.
Following this news, it has been confirmed by the team that reigning world champion, Kalle Rovanpera and his co-driver Jonne Haltunnen will compete in place of Ogier and Landais.
