Red Bull set to go ‘back to normal’ following Sky Sports Boycott
3rd November 2022Red Bull and Max Verstappen boycotted the British Broadcaster, Sky Sports, during the Mexico Grand Prix but the team is set to go ‘back to normal’ next week.
During the Mexico City Grand Prix, the two-time world champion and his respective team, Red Bull, stood together to boycott interviews with Sky Sports F1. This came after one of the broadcaster’s journalists, Ted Kravitz, went viral for saying Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton was ‘robbed’ of his eighth world title in Abu Dhabi in 2021.
At the United States Grand Prix, in Austin, the pit-lane reporter made a remark regarding Brad Pitt’s newest movie which is reported to be in development after the A-List star was in attendance at the grand prix weekend. As such, during Kravitz’s iconic post-race notebook show, the journalist referenced the events of last season, and the current one, to a movie script which can write itself.
Kravitz has now been on the receiving end of the backlash from fans and Red Bull, as his broadcaster was blocked access to interviews with the team and their drivers.
While many praised the Sky Sports journalist for saying what the FIA have already clarified from their report, earlier on this year, many have targeted hate towards him – especially on his social media.
Former driver, now pundit and commentator, Martin Brundle spoke out regarding the spat between Sky Sports and Red Bull, he said:
“For the avoidance of doubt my friend and colleague for the past 26 years @tedkravitz has my full support.
“Face to face dialogue is the only way to sort out issues and disputes in the relentless crucible of the F1 paddock.
“We all have opinions and different jobs to do, that’s life”
In the US GP edition of his show, Ted’s Notebook, the Sky Sports presenter suggested Hamilton was ‘robbed’ of his eighth world championship in Abu Dhabi, continued into a season where his car isn’t competitive enough at the front – comes to a track where he is capable of winning – and loses to the gentleman who he lost the championship too.
However, it has been reported the Milton Keynes outfit will be open to interviews from Sky, when they head to Brazil for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, next weekend.
