2022 F1 Esports Pro Championship Gets Underway

14th September 2022 0 By Kamron Kent

The Formula 1 Esports Pro Championship will get its 2022 season underway in the evening, on Wednesday, as Mercedes’ Jarno Opmeer looks to become a three-time world champion.

The Esports championship will kick off on Wednesday, September 14, with the first event taking place at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The championship will provide a great filler for the fans as F1 undergoes a three-week break between the Italian Grand Prix and the Singapore Grand Prix.

The three-week break comes as a result of the Russian Grand Prix being cancelled off the calendar following the country’s invasion of Ukraine, earlier this year.

Qualifying will kick off the F1 action on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30pm (BST) ahead of the race, four hours later, at 7:30pm. Afterwards, the Esports championship will move onto the Italian track of Imola before the virtual action stops at the iconic British circuit: Silverstone, on Thursday and Friday respectively.

Across the board, qualifying will commence for all three events – this week – at 3:30pm (BST) with while all three races will see the lights go out at 7:30pm (BST).

For those wanting to watch the events unfold, fans will be able to watch the qualifying on either F1’s official YouTube channel or Twitch account and Huya. While the races will be available across all three platforms in addition to Facebook.

The winners of the teams championship, this season, will have the opportunity to secure a mouth-watering prize pot containing $750,000.
