The Formula 1 PC Premier Sim Gaming League is set to end ‘with immediate effect’ after differences between the drivers arised between the retail versions and Esport builds.

Season 31 of PSGL will end its season, with immediate effect, with two races remaining on the schedule.

In a statement, PSGL said:

“It’s with regret to announce that the PC F1 season will end with immediate effect. Due to significant differences between the retail version and esports build.

“Understandably, the drivers are unwilling to switch between versions and compete in the final two races of Season 31 with F1 Esports starting very soon.

“It’s incredibly frustrating that once again that our season has been ruined by circumstances out of our control.

“We’d like to thank all the drivers that have raced this season, and to everyone that has watched or supported PSGL in making it another record-breaking period for us.”

At the current moment, of the PSGL standings, former-esports driver Lucas Blakeley was on top of the standings with 84 points, 13 points clear of his closest championship rival, and PSGL teammate, Bari Boroumand who was in second place on 69 points.

With the two McLaren drivers in the top two positions, in the drivers standings, it allowed their virtual team to secure the Constructors title with two races left to go.

Blakeley who was racing for McLaren in the virtual series, was part of the Aston Martin Cognizant Esports team for the 2021 F1 Esports championship where Jarno Opmeer, Mercedes, secured his second Esports title.

Before the season came to its premature end, the field still had to contend with races in Imola (Italy) and Sao Paulo (Brazil).
