After the conclusion of Free Practice 2, on Friday, the stewards were referred by the FIA Technical Delegate, Jo Bauer, of a sporting infringement where one of Audi’s F1 cars were partially covered and a floor was carried out and back into the garage.
During the session, the team had to work on Gabriel Bortoleto’s car with work commencing around the battery pack area.
The Brazilian spent most of his first session in the garage, having missed out on FP1 due to Freddie Slater taking over his car as a rookie, before getting out late on in the session.
After it was referred, the team were soon slapped with a €5,000 fine for the sporting breach.

In their report, the stewards said:
“The Team Representative recognised the breach and explained that the principal reason for the infringement was the particular configuration of the garages allocated to the Competitor at this Event.
“The two garages used by the Competitor are separated by a garage occupied by other personnel. As a result, the floor had to be transported through an area visible to third parties, which led the Competitor to cover it while moving it between its two garages.
“While the Stewards acknowledge the particular circumstances explained by the Competitor, these do not constitute an exception to the requirements of Article B3.3.1.
“Furthermore, team personnel also obstructed the view of Car 5 using another sheet while mechanics were working underneath the car.”
According to the regulations, it states that no screen, cover or any other obstruction will be allowed at any time that obstructs the view of an F1 car whilst it is is in the Paddock, Garages, Pit Lane or Grid.
The only exception to this ruling if for solely mechanical reasons such as protecting against fire.
