Oliver Solberg continues to head Rally Chile into final day
13th September 2026Toyota’s Oliver Solberg remains as the rally leader after day two at the World Rally Championship’s Rally Chile, extending his lead over the Toyota championship leader, Elfyn Evans.

Solberg remains as the rally leader in Chile, with a near-20-second lead over his closest rally rival, Evans, as the Swede withstood an early charge from Toyota’s defending world champion, Sebastien Ogier.
Across the morning, Ogier clinched two stage wins, before Solberg rounded out the loop with his own stage win. This pattern repeated in the afternoon loop, with Ogier completing the day with four stage wins compared to Solberg’s two.
Whilst Ogier was unable to overthrow the rally leader, he found himself in a battle for third against Hyundai’s Adrien Fourmaux. The two drivers traded places at the end of the morning loop, with the Frenchman going into third.
However, the nine-time world champion returned to third in the following stage, SS10 (Pelún 2) and he remained there, coming within 1.3 seconds of Evans in second place.
However, day two wasn’t without issue as a couple of drivers rolled in the early stages of the day.
The first was Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville rolled on the opening stage of the morning. The Belgian crew hit a small dirt bank at a fast left-right kink, bouncing the car across the road before it collided with a bigger bank and sending the car into a roll off the road.
Both Neuville and his co-driver Martijn Wydaeghe were both okay in the incident.
It wasn’t long before another crew suffered a roll. Jon Armstrong joined the Hyundai competitors rolled his car 11km into the following stage, forcing his car into a slide across the road. Similarly to the Belgian-driven Hyundai, the Irish crew were okay following the incident.
They were able to get the car back onto all four-wheels and continue on to limp home to the control line, despite heavy damage to the front of their car. However, they were forced to join Neuville on the retirement list.

Armstrong and Toyota’s Takamoto Katsuta found themselves down in 37th and 38th overall, respectively.
SS13, Carampangue 1 – the longest test of the event – will start Super Sunday’s action at 9am local time.
