The Monaco Grand Prix was an eventful one with a mix of retirements, safety cars and a red flag. But one of the main talking points was relating to speeding in the pit lane, of which several drivers fell foul to across the 78-lap race.
One of the drivers to be caught out by the speeding offence was Gasly, who had exceeded the 60 km/h speed limit in the Monaco pit lane. The Frenchman was caught out twice during the race for exceeding the speed limit, of which his first offence being 0.1km/h over, whilst his second offence was 0.4km/h over the limit.
Gasly was given a five-second time penalty for each offence. While he took the chequered flag third on the road, the time penalty being applied meant the Frenchman had dropped out of the podium and down to seventh overall.
Following this, Alpine has announced they are to lodge a Right of Review for the penalties applied for pit lane speeding. They said:
“After the result of today’s Monaco Grand Prix, BWT Alpine Formula One Team can confirm it has requested a Right of Review from the FIA, following the penalties applied for pit lane speeding.”

Across the race, a total of six infringements were given out to the drivers who fell foul of maintaining the speed limit, with Gasly being the only driver in the Monaco race who received two infringements.
Of each infringement, all but Gasly’s second infringement, saw the likes of Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari), George Russell (Mercedes), Franco Colapinto (Alpine) and Oscar Piastri (McLaren) exceed the speed limit by 0.1km/h.
As a result, each of the five drivers was given a five-second time penalty for their speeding infringements.
