On Wednesday, on the eve of media day at his home race, the Monaco Grand Prix, it was confirmed that Leclerc will stay at Maranello for the ‘coming seasons,’ as Ferrari confirmed.
Leclerc has become a prominent figure in the Scuderia garage after he was swooped up by the Prancing Horse in 2019, after a debut season at Sauber in 2018.
Team Principal, Frederic Vasseur has described the announcement as ‘natural’ as the Monegasque has been part of the Ferrari family for quite a while, describing Leclerc as a driver who is ‘completely at one with the team and everything Ferrari represents.’
It is unclear when the new contract will come to an end, with the wording being vague on its duration, but it is clear that the contract will stand for the next few seasons.

On the announcement, he said:
“I couldn’t be happier to continue this journey with Scuderia Ferrari HP. It has always been so much more than just a team to me. It’s the team I’ve loved and dreamt of being part of since I was a child, and after all these years it has become a second family.
“Together we’ve shared incredible moments and some tougher ones, but I believe in this team more than ever, and I’m deeply grateful that we will keep pushing side by side toward our shared goal of bringing the World Championship back to Maranello.
“Being a Ferrari driver is a dream, but it’s also a responsibility I never take for granted. I’ll continue to give absolutely everything I have to bring this team back to where it belongs, at the very top, for everyone in Maranello, and above all for the tifosi, whose passion is the heartbeat of this Scuderia.”
The Monegasque currently stands as the second most experienced driver at the Italian squad, sitting on 155 Grand Prix with the team sitting behind the legendary driver, Michael Schumacher.
During his tenure, he has secured eight race victories, 27 pole positions, 52 podium finished and has amassed the most points of any Ferrari driver before him.
Fernando Alonso urges more “top F1 drivers” to compete in other series.
Of those eight victories, he finally secured a fabled home race around the streets of Monaco in 2024, bringing the ‘Monaco curse’ to an end as he became the first F1 Monegasque driver to achieve the feat in the world championship.
“Charles has been part of the Ferrari family for many years now and this renewal feels like something very natural for us,” commented Ferrari Team Principal, Frederic Vasseur. “Over these seasons we have seen him grow, to become not only one of the strongest drivers in Formula 1, but also a person who is completely at one with the team and everything Ferrari represents.
“We appreciate his talent, we love his determination and the way he approaches every day with the people in the Scuderia, both on and off the track. We know how much this project means to him and we are happy to continue working towards our shared goals.”
The Monegasque will be back in action this weekend, as with the rest of the Formula 1 grid, as they prepare to race around the Principality of Monaco for the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix.
The race weekend will get underway on June 5 – 7.
