Rally Chile will return to the calendar for the third time, following its reputation as a driver’s rally. It was magnificently won by Ott Tanak, with M-Sport Ford, in its return to the calendar in 2023 – after a break due to COVID – before Kalle Rovanpera took victory last year.

One of the challenges of the event can be the weather as rain is threatening, and mist or fog can pay havoc on visibility, as proven last year on stage 11. It showcased why the co-drivers are just as important as the drivers.

11 Rally1 crews are set to compete in the event when it comes around on September 11-14. Who will be competing?

Toyota

Toyota will take their line up from Paraguay and bring it through to the second consecutive South American WRC event. Championship leader, Elfyn Evans will be partnered alongside Kalle Rovanpera, Sebastien Ogier, Takamoto Katsuta and Sami Pajari, completing the five-car entry.

With the tight nature of the drivers championship, could there be a change of hands in the championship heading into Chile after Paraguay? Rovanpera trails Evans three points. Ogier, occupies third, 13 points behind the Welshman.

Hyundai

The South Korean manufacturer will continue with their regular full-time driver line up with Ott Tanak leading the team ahead of the defending world champion, Thierry Neuville. Adrien Fourmaux will round out their three-car entry.

M-Sport Ford

The Cumbrian based team will return to an extended lineup with three cars set to compete in the event. Gregoire Munster will lead the team ahead of Joshua McErlean.

Chile’s Alberto Heller, 31, will be the third car for Ford, co-driven by Argentina’s Luis Allende. The home hero returns to the premier rally class on home soil after his debut in 2023 where he finished 15th – after running as high as eighth in the event.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
