The announcement confirmed that McLaren, and their official primary partner Google Chrome, will launch their ‘Legacy at Speed’ livery at the British GP this weekend, to be driven by Lando Norris and Championship leader Oscar Piastri.

McLaren’s new liver was unveiled in front of a live audience of fans at their ‘McLaren Racing Live: London’ event, at Trafalgar Square.

“We know that, while we have millions of fans who have been with the McLaren Formula 1 Team for decades, there are millions more who are new to the sport and the team,” said Chief Marketing Officer, Louise McEwen.

“Being able to celebrate and showcase our long history with the help of Chrome is a fantastic way of bringing these newer fans on the journey with us. To celebrate with so many of our fans in London this week as we get ready for our home race makes it even more special!”

The livery will celebrate McLaren’s speed on the track and Google Chrome’s speed on the internet, through a new take on the fan-favourite chrome design.

McLaren’s Chrome livery pays homage to the mid-2000s to early-2010 cars, which were driven by the likes of Kimi Raikkonen, Jenson Button, Juan Pablo Montoya, and current Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton.

The Woking-based team had previously run a Chrome livery at the 2023 British GP, where they finished second with Norris and fourth with Piastri.

“Google Chrome is proud to join McLaren for McLaren Racing Live: London at Trafalgar Square to reveal the iconic Chrome livery” said Vice President of Global Product and Integrated Marketing, Adrienne Lofton.

“Google Chrome provides unparalleled speed and performance to McLaren and consumers worldwide. We’re excited to help bring the Paddock energy to fans in advance of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.”
