On Thursday, the media day for the Emilia-Romagna GP – the first triple header in Europe in 2025 – Ferrari have released a statement confirming at their Monegasque driver will not be attending his usual duties.

The team confirmed that Leclerc is ‘unwell’ and will not be at the circuit. As such, the the Monegasque will use the day to rest and recover ahead of the opening day in Imola, tomorrow.

As such, his attendance for the rest of the weekend seems to be going ahead as planned with Leclerc expected to be back in the car to participate in Friday’s practice sessions as usual. In their statement, the team said:

“Charles is feeling unwell and will not be coming to the track today. He will rest and focus on recovering and we expect him to be in the car tomorrow.”

The news of Leclerc’s absence marks the second consecutive weekend where a driver has missed a media day, following the Miami Grand Prix last time out. Max Verstappen, Red Bull, missed the last media day – in Miami – as the four-time world champion was with his partner Kelly Piquet for the birth of their daughter.

Ferrari will head into their first home race of two, ahead of the Italian Grand Prix later on in the year, down in fourth place, in the constructors championship – behind, third-place, Red Bull Racing.

Despite a close championship run last season, 2025 has been a rocky start for the Scuderia with only 94 points collected across six races, including a double disqualification in China. Leclerc leads the team in the drivers standings in fifth, two places higher than seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Free Practice One will get underway on Friday, igniting the first European race of the season, at 1:30pm local time (12:30pm BST). The race will get underway on Sunday at 3pm local (2pm BST)
