Verstappen controlled the race from start to finish to claim his fourth consecutive Japanese Grand Prix victory at the Suzuka Circuit, extending his win tally to 64 career wins.

It also marks the Dutchman’s first win of the 2025 season after three different races, the Australian season opener, the Chinese Grand Prix and its sprint.

The Dutchman managed the race from when the lights went out as he remained ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris.

One of the only exciting moments was when Verstappen and Norris pitted from the race, for their mandatory stops, on lap 21. As the two drivers had a close encounter.

Verstappen suffered a slow stop, and this allowed Norris to be released side-by-side with Verstappen after his stop. The two crossed the pit exit line together, and Norris ended up taking to the grass.

Norris radioed that he was pushed off the track whilst Verstappen claimed the McLaren drove onto the grass verge.

The FIA deemed no further action was required for the incident, and the duo were set to race it out on track. However, by the end, neither McLaren’s Norris nor Piastri could threaten Verstappen.

When the chequered flag fell, Verstappen took his first win of 2025 with Norris and Piastri completing the podium in second and third, respectively.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
